The Lord's Last Words
Worship Service: Sermon only - 3 Mar, 2024
As we turn our thoughts towards Easter, we can see in “The Lord’s Last Words” on the cross there is infinite divine love offering forgiveness, compassion and hope as the culmination of everything that the Lord said and did, and as an inspiration for how we can care for each other (Matthew 27, Mark 15, Luke 23, John 19). | By Rev. John L. Odhner , Bryn Athyn Cathedral
Who are you Following?
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - 25 Feb, 2024
We are all “followers” of one thing or another – a favorite athlete, team, musician, artist, brand, expert – the list goes on. We tend to follow whoever or whatever interests us and, depending on the intensity of the interest, we allow it to influence us in small or big ways. This Sunday, we’ll be exploring what happened the day after the Feeding of the 5,000 when many of the followers of Jesus “walked with Him no more” (John 6:66). | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral
Know Your Spiritual Enemies: The Syrians

Why was this and what can we learn from this about how the Lord wants us to live? | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

Anticipating the Famine
Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 11 Feb, 2024
Joseph’s interpretation of Pharaoh’s dream, that there would be seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine, meant that the land of Egypt had time to prepare for this eventual hardship (Genesis 41). If “famine” is a hardship we can expect, what steps might we take to better prepare for it? The happy reunion of Joseph and his brothers wouldn’t have happened without the famine. This story gives us a wonderful glimpse into the workings of the Lord’s providence. | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

Developing a Strong Faith
Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 4 Feb, 2024
The beginning of the service will start with the rite of confirmation where a young adult will confess her faith. Afterwards, the talk will focus on how to develop a strong faith that is rock solid and can withstand the attacks from hell. In the gospels, the disciple Peter is a symbol for faith, so we will look at some of the lessons we can learn from Peter’s attitude and actions. | By Rt. Rev. Bradley D. Heinrichs , Bryn Athyn Cathedral
Developing a Strong Faith
Worship Service: Sermon only - 4 Feb, 2024
The sermon will focus on how to develop a strong faith that is rock solid and can withstand the attacks from hell. In the gospels, the disciple Peter is a symbol for faith, so we will look at some of the lessons we can learn from Peter’s attitude and actions. It is interesting to see how insightful his faith is at times, and yet often his fake appears to be fickle and weak. There are many lessons to learn about how our faith progresses and develops over time. | By Rt. Rev. Bradley D. Heinrichs , Bryn Athyn Cathedral
Know Your Spiritual Enemies: The Philistines
Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 28 Jan, 2024
There are many stories in the Old Testament about the Philistines. They were the main enemy of the children of Israel in the time of heroes like Samson, Saul, and David. They were a powerful and persistent enemy, and yet they could be defeated. What do the Philistines represent within us and what can the Lord’s Word teach us about how to fight against them? Find out this Sunday in the next sermon in our series about knowing your spiritual enemies. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

Divine Gravity
Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 21 Jan, 2024
“And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.” (John 12:32) The Lord's Love is a powerful, attractive force that draws us all upwards towards Him in heaven. Yet we often get dragged down in life, sometimes by our own doings and sometimes by others. How can we better work with the Lord to remove the heavy burdens of life and be lifted up by Him? | By Rev. Barry C. Halterman , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

Covenant Renewal
Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 14 Jan, 2024
King Josiah initiated the biggest reform and covenant renewal his country had ever seen. Amongst his reforms was the reinstatement of the Passover which had not been held in Jerusalem “since the days of the judges” (2 Kings 23:22). We will be considering the benefits of a covenant and why our covenant with the Lord is something that needs to be revisited and “renewed” on a regular basis. | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

The Wisdom of Matthew’s Nativity
Worship Service: Sermon only - 17 Dec, 2023
"The Wisdom of Matthew’s Nativity" - Rev. Jeffrey O. Smith For anything we do, it is important to have an idea of how to do it before we just jump right in. This importance of knowledge is the reason the Christmas story in Matthew features certain people like Joseph, the wisemen, and even Herod. Join us this Sunday as we look at some of the details of the Matthew nativity, and how they can help us actually live a more fulfilling life. | By Rev. Jeffrey Smith , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

The Little Things
Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 3 Dec, 2023
“The Little Things” In Micah’s prophesy, Bethlehem is identified as the birthplace of the Messiah. The emphasis placed on this town is its smallness, its seeming insignificance, and yet out of Bethlehem will “come a Ruler who will shepherd My people Israel” (5:2). This description of the Lord’s birthplace contains deep spiritual significance and foretells a spiritual virtue we all need which, in the eyes of the world, seems insignificant and unremarkable but which, in reality, is “the little thing” that counts the most. | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral
